“Mom Jean” Debacle Easily Avoidable, says Thimbler

According to a story on Yahoo News, Obama’s ill-fitting jeans have earned the wrath of fashionistas everywhere:

Last week, when President Obama threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the All-Star Game in St. Louis, he was probably more concerned with getting the ball over the plate than with his choice of attire. Call it a rookie mistake. The president’s baggy pants were mocked as being… brace yourselves… “mom jeans.” Now, the leader of the free world has responded to his fashion critics… President Obama acknowledged that he “looked a little frumpy” in his baggy jeans. In his defense, Mr. Obama said that he hates to shop and that “those jeans are comfortable.”

The President is not alone in his dislike of shopping, says Charles Tse, founder and CEO of Thimbler.com. “Sadly our research has shown us that fit and style issues remain the biggest disappointments in the shopping experience. As for what to do in the case of Obama’s real body, Tse suggested that a better, more proportioned fit through the hips and thighs, along with Thimbler’s medium wash, would have improved Obama’s overall silhouette. “He’s tall and slender, so the key for him is getting the proportions right for his unique size,” Tse said of Obama. “But let’s face it, we all have fit issues. Even world leaders. That’s why the world needs Thimbler.”

Good to know that even President Obama uses the ‘but I’m comfy!’ defense of unflattering jeans!

What makes an attractive outfit? Whether it’s a casual look for everyday, a smart, professional outfit for work or a little black dress for a formal occasion, there are some things that make any outfit better.

Coordinating colors are important. Popular colors for formal wear are jewel tones, like plum, navy, emerald green, forest green and mauve.  Try lighter colors and fabrics for summer. Of course, you can pair almost anything with basic black, or pair any casual pieces with basic denim. Add a little jewelry for a finished look.

My mom always told me that clothes that are just a little bit loose make you look thinner, and clothes that are just a little bit too tight make you look fatter. It’s definitely true! Skintight clothes look good on some people, but be careful of that sausage look!
